Boating Safety Course Saturday, September 15

The Lake Pontchartrain Sail & Power Sqaudron will be conducting a one day Boating Safety Course September 15, 2012 from 8:00am-5:00pm at the Maritime Museum. Below is information about the course from the Sail & Power Sqaudron.


 Persons born after Jan. 1, 1984 may not operate a motorboat or PWC powered by a motor in excess of 10 HP unless they have successfully completed a boating safety course.

Introduction to Boating; Federal and State Boating Laws; Personal Safety Equipment; Safe Boat Handling; Navigation; Boating Problems; Trailering, Storing, and Protecting Your Boat; Hunting and Fishing, Water Skiing, and River Boating; Personal Water Craft (PWC) and much, much more.

 This very popular course exceeds all State and Federal educational requirements.  Instruction is FREE, but there is a $ 25 charge for course material.  Passing the course will qualify participants for boat insurance discounts with many insurance providers.  Contact your insurance agent for what discounts they offer.
