The Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum offers exciting programs, exhibits, and historic structures to enjoy. Programs and exhibits are currently offered at 133 Mabel Drive, Madisonville, Louisiana.

The Tchefuncte River Light Station is currently not accessible to visitors, but the Museum has many unique lighthouse exhibits, including the Fresnel lens from the Chandeleur Lighthouse and the lantern room from the Pass Manchac Lighthouse. The keepers cottage from the Tchefuncte River Light Station is also on the museum grounds.

Distant photographs of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse may be taken from the south end of Main Street (Lake Road or LA 1077) just west of the Lakefront Boat Launch, 1.5 miles south of the museum. The Tchefuncte Marsh directly south of the museum is excellent for watching migratory birds in the spring and fall.
