Volunteering for the museum or its partnering groups is fun and includes many benefits, including making new friends, sharing unique experiences, and serving the community as part of dynamic events, programs, and restoration projects.
The Maritime Museum depends on you for its ongoing support and accomplishment. As a private non-profit, the Museum is supported by the revenue it generates and the donations it receives. Your support allows the Museum to offer hundreds of unique programs on regional history, culture, and the environment each year for school children, families, seniors, and the general public.
Here are seven easy ways that you can get involved:
- Become a Museum Member
- Volunteer to help with the Museum, our Educational Programs, Lighthouse, or Special Events
- Make a Donation
- Sponsor or attend the annual Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival
- Participate in one of our unique hands-on Educational Programs
- Include the Museum or Lighthouse as a Bequest in Your Will
- Sponsor restoration of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse

Under the direction of personnel of the Louisiana Division of Archaeology, museum volunteers had the opportunity to participate in archaeological excavations at the Tchefuncte River Light Station.
