The 20th Annual Madisonville Wooden Boat Festival–brought to you by Chevron–included extraordianary wooden boats, great music, wonderful food, terrific programs, and fun for people of all ages. For details of the 2009 festival, visit the web site.
- Every year the toy boats custom built by the St. Tammany Woodworkers Guild to child specificiations were a huge hit.
- Sunday morning twenty-two teams will put the finishing touches on their boats and prepare their elaborate costumes for the Quick n’ Dirty Contest Parade, departing the Ball Field at 2:00 p.m. Will the boats float? Who will win? Come to the 2009 Wooden Boat Festival and find out!
- The parade for the Quick n’ Dirty Boat Building Contest was a festival highlight.
- On Sunday afternoon the popular Quick and Dirty Contest packed the river and shore with spectators.
- Many great boats built by students of the museum’s boatbuilding program were on display on land and in the water.
- MOON RIVER arrives for the festival.
- Owners enjoy talking with people genuinely interested in their boats and their restoration efforts.
- Children’s Village offers special activities including games, face painting, and slides for both the young, and the young at heart.
- Dawn at the Wooden Boat Festival shows the romantic beauty of traditional boats.
- Each year the Wooden Boat Festival attracts extraordinary boats. The 2009 festival has 101 boats on display.
